Udupi: 'Samarpana' NGO aimed at serving destitute comes into being

Udupi, Feb 20: A new non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), 'Samarpana', which aims at dedicating itself to the cause of protecting and caring for the downtrodden and destitute who roam around the streets with no one to look after them, came into being. Its inaugural was held at Asha Nilaya school on Sunday February 19 here. It was inaugurated by Gangan G Gaonkar from Puttur near here, who was the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs reality show presented by Zee TV.

 

Gagan, who inaugurated the NGO and also cut the cake to celebrate the birthday of the organization apart from distributing it to the children, said that he deems the children of special school as his own brothers and sisters. He termed the experience of opening this new organization as an unforgettable experience. He wished the new NGO every success and donated Rs 5,000 to it.

After the inaugural, Gagan entertained the children by rendering Hindi and Kannada film songs. Rubin Machado, a musician from Mangaluru, who had especially come here for the inaugural, made the gathering happy by playing his mouth-organ and guitar. The special children of the school were seen ecstatically jumping in joy and dancing freely to their hearts content. The environment of happiness that was in the air at the school proved that the inaugural of 'Samarpana' was a thumbing success.

Head teacher of Asha Nilaya schoool, Agnes Hemavathi, entrepreneur, Arun Kumar Shetty, and others were present. Founder of the organization, Pareekshit Shet, welcomed the guests and delivered introductory address. Pravalika, who happens to be the force behind this new organization, proposed vote of thanks. Members of 'Samarpana', Kripa, Eric, Rohit, Yoga, Akshay and Vaishakh worked for the success of the programme.
