Dubai: Thumbay Hospital’s annual Healthy Baby Contest draws more than 5000 visitors

Dubai, Feb 25: The largest family fun-event in Dubai, Thumbay Hospital’s annual Healthy Baby Contest and Exhibition was conducted at Dubai on Friday, February 24. As families swarmed the hospital premises with kids of all ages, the event saw an unprecedented participation of more than 5000 visitors.













Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor was the chief guest of the event. Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice- president of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group, and several other important dignitaries were present at the event.

For families, the event turned out to be a memorable weekend with unlimited fun, games and activities for children. Kids had numerous play zones to enjoy themselves and engage physically and mentally.
Moreover, many parents availed the opportunity to freely interact with the hospital’s pediatricians, for parenting tips as well as queries regarding the growth and nutrition of children. Kids also got the chance to show their singing/dancing talents before a huge audience.

The seven-hour long contest featured “When I Grow-Up day” as the highlighting theme of this year’s edition, with activities and zones such as hospital zone; airport zone; candy land zone; barn yard zone; fire station zone; racers club zone, and many more.

The event also witnessed the official announcement of Thumbay Hospital’s entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, for creating the largest online photo album of people holding a sign. More than 33,000 people were photographed holding a sign saying “Be Happy, Be Healthy” signifying Thumbay Group’s unique ‘happiness hours’ initiative across its different businesses, including free consultations and tests at the Thumbay  network of academic hospitals and clinics every Tuesday between 4pm to 5pm, from January 1 to December 31 this year.

25-year-old Jordanian woman Esraa Hamzeh, who attended the event with her 11-month old daughter Jana, said, “Our baby was delivered in Thumbay Hospital and that’s how we came to know about this initiative. We are really happy to visit this evening today. It is very colorful and has a lot of activities for kids and families, providing resources to lead a healthier lifestyle.”

Pakistani woman Irum, who attended with her niece Muskaan, said, “The program provides parents direct, hands-on assistance, customized training to support healthy lifestyles with the pediatrician counseling. Since it’s scheduled on a Friday, we can come over without the fear of pressing work commitment deadlines. It’s a good community engagement initiative that brings together multi-cultural individuals to learn and improve the lives of the children in a fun-filled environment.”

Officials representing Dubai Police who partnered the event appreciated Thumbay Group for this unique event to spread the message of healthy living, among families. “I am extremely happy to represent Dubai Police at the event here today. Festivities combined with knowledge and training from the pediatricians creates a unique combination for the kids,” said an official.  Expressing the support of Dubai Civil Defence fire fighters, an official said, “In keeping with the efforts to help the Emirate's residents enjoy a higher quality of life, we are here to support the Annual Healthy Baby Contest as partners for the event.”
