Udupi: Art exhibition ‘Anveshane’ by Mahalasa School of Art, inaugurated

Udupi, Mar 17: Dr Unnikrishnan K, associate professor and senior artist, Manipal University, inaugurated art exhibition ‘Anveshane – 2017 the expression of inner space', organised by Mahalasa School of Art at  Vibhuti Art Gallary, Chitra Kala Mandira Kala Vidyalaya here on Thursday, March 16.

Speaking on occasion, Unnikrishnan said, “There is nothing beyond a picture. A picture conveys more than 1000 words. Localness and folk arts are being represented in every painting. I appreciate all students for their hard work and job well done. The art gallery provides a suitable platform for students to explore with their artwork. All paintings are keenly observed and given a local touch.”


    
































Unnikrishnan concluded his speech with Ananth Murthy’s words ‘The more the local you are, the more the global you are’.  

Speaking on occasion, K Purushotham Shetty, principal of the Mahalasa said, “Innovation keeps our freshness and creativity alive. We need to create awareness among people about local and social values through paintings.”

Guest of honour U C Niranjan, secretary, Chitrakala Mandira said, “The gap between classes in the society is increasing. Painting is a tool to open one’s mind and bring us to reality. Emerging artists should keep all the points in mind, before exploring the world of painting.”
 
“As many as 32 pieces of paintings of 19 students were displayed at the gallery. These oil paintings try to capture abstract and traditional values of our society,” informed N C Patthar, curator and guide.
 
A second-year student of Bachelor of Visual Art, Kamil painted the Sindhu civilisation. Mahika, a first-year student, painted about spirituality and tried to find the truth about life. She took three weeks to draw the painting. She has more than 100 painting collection. On an average, a good art piece fetches up to Rs 12,000.
 
Ashwini, a second-year student, worked on blending traditional and modern aspects of life. Sharing her experience with Daijiworld Media, She said, “I loved the campus of Chitrakala Mandira Udupi. I came here for the first time.”

The exhibition cum sale is open for four days this week.
