Mumbai: International Women's Day celebrated at St Francis Xavier Church

Mumbai, Mar 29: More than 100 women participated in International Women's Day celebration organised by the beautiful women of St Francis Xavier Church, Park Site, Vikhroli at its Parish Hall on March 26. The theme of the day was 'Be Bold for Change'.

                                                            

























































Flora D’Souza Jerimeri, an activist, artiste and social worker was the resource person. She gave a brief introduction about International Women's Day and spoke as to where and why the celebration started. She also spoke about the empowerment of women, gender equality, child marriage, abortion, dowry in English, Konkani and Hindi. Flora also thanked Fr Hubert for offering her an opportunity and preparing a platform to launch her talents and also thanked Sr Seema who encouraged her in many ways towards women’s empowerment.

Fr Constancio (originally from Bail-Bazar, Kurla), Jesuit priest of St Joseph’s Parish Mumbra was the guest of honor. He congratulated all the women and Flora D’Souza for her encouraging speech on the theme and urged all the women how they can bring the change among themselves, families and others. He also briefed about the tribal students how they help and train them in their parish and motivate them to train others in their locality.

There were variety of dances from the members as part of the cultural programme. Spot games and other events were conducted by Silvia and Kieran.

From the crowd, Jovitha Almeida thanked the members for organizing such a nice event for the parishioners.

Earlier, Silvia Nazareth welcomed the gathering.

Silvia Nazareth delivered vote of thanks and thanked all the members and participants who supported and helped them to make this event a grand success. She also thanked Fr Hubert Govias, the parish priest, who brought tremendous changes in the parish within a short period of one year and was always supportive and extended his helping hands to the parishioners in their need.

Snacks and return gifts were distributed to all.
