Kuwait: BSK conducts successful family get-together

Kuwait, Apr 3: Billava Sangha Kuwait (BSK) members were blessed to have successfully organized the family get-together 2017 at the Fintas Gardens on March 24, despite the thunderstorm from early morning. However, the rain God spared the day and a rain spell followed only after the members returned from an eventful day at the get-together.

BSK applauded its sports committee and the groundsmen who waited patiently for the rains to stop at the venue from 5.30 am in order to make arrangements for the event. The event commenced with a prayer by the BSK kids as the sky cleared at 10.00 am. It was followed by the flag hoisting, breaking of the coconut by the president Raghu Poojary and lighting of the torch by the sports committee which included Sandesh Amin, Sudhir Kumar, Dheeraj Salian, Sujith Kotian, Mithun Vishwanath, Avin Suvarna, Jyothi Sudhirand Ashwitha Surendra.



Fun and games for all age groups were organized. Younger kids played musical chairs, passing the ball and ball in the basket, while the older kids had fun at playing Cricket Ball throw, Javelin throw and Rabbit Race. The ladies competed to aim the Ring in the wicket and Sooji Dhara while the men took part in Frog Race and played Single wicket hit. Couples engaged in Balloon Race and feeding orange to their spouses race. Team games comprising of volleyball for men and throwball for ladies were also played, while ladies and men tested their strength in a game of Tug of war. Breaking of the pot with a twist had two people playing it blindfolded and three legged. Everyone tried their luck in a game of housie-housie.

The picnic provided a platform to launch the 2017 scholarship programme, initiated by Billava Sangha Kuwait from the year 2016, in association with Shree Guru Charitable Trust, Surathkal. In the last year, BSK has awarded scholarships to 88 students and anticipates continuing the same this year as well for more students.

Breakfast for the event was sponsored by the sports secretary Sandesh Amin, mineral water was sponsored by Pradeep Kotian and delicious lunch was served by Mughal Tandoori.

The event concluded with prize distribution, vote of thanks was delivered by the general secretary Gautham Suvarna and raffle winners' names were announced. The get-together was excellently hosted by Amarnath Suvarna and photographed by Sandeep Attavar.
