Muscat Bulls emerge champions at Social Forum sports meet

Muscat, Apr 6: According to tradition, Social Forum organized sports meet 2017 at Sidab Sports Club on March 31.

In his inaugural speech, Mohammed Mu’aaz Bhatkal highlighted the health benefits of playing sports as well as better bonds and social harmony through continued participation in games and sports.

Janab Jaunid Muscat and Shamsheer Ahmed Group, general director of Barik Group of Companies initiated the event by playing cricket.

A total of eleven teams actively participated in the sports meet and played cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, tug of war and running race. Social Forum state president, Janab Mohammed Anwar Mudabidire introduced the participating teams.



Team Muscat Bulls and team Ghobra Hawks shared equal points at the end of each event and decided the champion by tossing the coin. Muscat Bulls emerged as champions. The results of each event are as follows:

Cricket
Winners: Nizwa Super Kings
Runners: Royal Challengers Delhi

Volleyball
Winners: Wadi Kabir Strikers
Runners: Ghala Attackers

Kabaddi
Winners: Red Hawks Ghobra
Runners: Ghala Attackers

Tug of War
Winners: Muscat Bulls
Runners: Red Hawks Ghobra

Running Race
Winners: Sarfuddin
Runners: Azeez

Other participating teams were: Raising Stars Mabela, Amerat Gladiators, Barka Tigers, Bidbid Challengers, Eagles Hamriya.

Prize distribution was held towards the end of the day. Social Forum area presidents Salam Tumbe, Maqsood Chandavar, Abdul Hakeem and secretary Irfan Ujire distributed prizes to the winners. In the concluding ceremony, Social Forum national president Abdul Hameed Panemangalore urged everyone to be healthy and strengthen the bond between them and maintain harmony in society. The event was gracefully hosted by Noor Mohammed Padubidre.
