Chikkamagaluru, Apr 17: A son and his father committed suicide by consuming poison after four borewells dug in their agricultural field failed to yield water. The incident happened in Gulladamane village in Tarikere taluk in the district.

Yogesh (22), son of Srinivas, ended his life by consuming poison on the night of Saturday April 15 out of the frustration over failed borewells. Shocked by the sudden death of his son, Yogesh's father, Srinivas (50),  consumed poison on Sunday morning.

Srinivas has left behind wife, a son, and a daughter with two among five members of the family ending their lives all of a sudden.

The family has three acres of land. Out of this, it had raised a plantation in one acre of land with the other two acres being reserved for raising crops during Kharif season.
