Belagavi: Female engineering student kidnaps friend, gets caught within hours

Daijiworld Media Network - Belagavi (SP)

Belagavi, Apr 20: The police, who jumped into action after an eighth semester (civil) student of GIT Engineering College here was abducted, succeeded in securing the release of the student within eight hours. The girl who was abducted was Arpita Govind Nayika from Dharwad. The person who planned this abduction was her friend, Vidya Malaghana. Vidya, police personnel claim, planned this abduction with the support of her childhood friend, Kedari.

Divya Mallikarjun Malaghana, a native of Mantoor village in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district, her childhood friend, Kedari Hanumanth Patil, and car driver, Sumith alias Bablu Gangappa Nabhapura, stand arrested for this crime.

Divya and Kedari, it is learnt, cajoled Arpita into joining them for dinner on April 17. When having food, they mixed a tablet containing intoxicating substance to cold drink. Once Arpita fell asleep, she was taken to Gadag with the help of car driver, Bablu. The friends spent that night in the house of Kedari ar Gadag. Arpita, who woke the next day, was given tea mixed with the same tablet. Arpita was given this tablet repeatedly whenever she showed signs of coming out of her slumber.

Kedari, in the meanwhile, called Arpita's mother claiming to be an associate of underworld fugitives. He told her that her daughter had been kidnapped for ransom. Arpita, during the brief period she was awake sometime earlier, had called her mother without the knowledge of her abductors, and informed her what had happened. The parents had filed complaint in Tilakwadi police station in the town.

Deputy commissioner of police, G Radhika, immediately formed four teams of police to crack the case. One of the teams went to Gadag and raided Kedar's home at around 4 am and rescued Arpita besides arresting the three kidnappers.

The arrested accused confessed that they had planned to place demand for ransom of five crore rupees, and had taken religious vow to place Rs 70 lac out of this money into the donation box of Lord Venkateshwara temple at Tirumala Tirupathi. They told the police that before executing this abduction, they had visited Tirupathi thrice and also bought 60 tablets containing intoxicants. They also had planned to donate two cows to Srikrishna Math and make some contribution to an orphanage, it is said.

Feel like laughing one side.Such people are so called friends? When friends are ,would really defend ,save her.here just the opposit.First kidnap, ask a huge amount of money from parents, vow God as though God will support them when promise money, cows and what not ,narkotics to her,and who knows what they have done with her in schlaf. You need no enemys when one has such friends.Instead of concentrating about their future studies, planning abduction.Later telling police storys when went wrong.Lord venkateshwer too must have didnt like their bribery and wanted the girl to be safe.Thank God girl informed parents.and they didnt hear it.who knows what would happen if police didnt find her .Cant imagine. When you hear this ,dont feel that even going to a meal with friends. Now parentsshould keep her with them or take her to a different place than here.Safety is important.Hope she will overcome this sad incident and recover fast.may not believe anyone.she should better take a psychiatric treatment soon to forget or overcome her anxiousnes.s.culprits should get life long prison.otherwise they may kidnapp someoneelse because of money.

Instead of worrying about her future, the mastermind n her cohorts r using their intelligence in planning such gruesome professional crimes! Admire the guts of the prime accused!! Just imagine what sort of ethical n moral values they have imbibed during 4 years in a professional college; no doubt then, a recent report in DH said that 61% of engg graduates r not employable due to massive degradation in quality of education!!

Offering bribe to various gots directly shows with what "blind faith" values they have been bought up with! Day before, read a report saying somebody bought a lime (nimbu) auctioned in a famous religious place for 27k bucks because it is supposed to give childless children n bring overall happiness!

As far is blind faith is prevalent, irrespective of religions, we will never improve!!

walla religious and god fearing persons..
had tested whether god approve if money donated from the booty will approve by any means.
hinduism not agree in such wrong things. In other religion it's given provision will exclude completely for wrong deeds and placed in upper berth in heavan if repented.
I wonder how one can do with there dear and near ones and bear suffering who are on turmoil.

This was happening only with the uneducated goons earlier. Now even educated people follow the trend. Why do you trouble / kill people in the name of god.

If every parent ask ask their children today (who spend money with out working) they will get similar stories and answers. Some organisation extort money in the name of god and many educated people support them unconditionally.

We would wholeheartedly accept the anti-superstitious bill of Siddu provided, it bans all superstitious actions irrespective of religion. Bye the way marks what is superstition?
As far as I am concerned, the belief in God itself is superstitious. Your going to church every Sunday is a superstition for me. Date of Christmas stays the same on every year on the Christian calendar but Easter does not. So I can claim both celebrations are superstitious.
In a similar way, you might claim that it is impossible to have a human body and elephant head, so praying to Lord Ganapathi is superstitious. .. and many more.

Now do you understand why intellectuals are against the bill proposed by Siddaramayya?

"As far as I am concerned, the belief in God itself is superstitious. "

If belief in God itself is superstitious for you then your very existence in this world is superstitious and thus the reason for all the chaos.
