Bengaluru: KDA to hold 'Police Literary Convention'

Bengaluru, Apr 22 (DHNS): Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has decided to hold a ‘Police Literary Convention’ to provide a platform for expressing the literary skills of cops.

“The KDA will include the Police Literary Convention in its action plan for this year and will bear its expenses,” said Prof S G Siddaramaiah, KDA chairman, while reviewing the implementation of Kannada in police administration at the City Police Commissioner’s office on Friday.

Siddaramaiah directed the police brass to take action against those opposing use of Kannada in IT sector and against those posting hate messages about Kannada on Facebook. He directed Police Commissioner Praveen Sood to use Kannada in all police notifications and social media platforms.

Senior officer Rajappa expressed displeasure over the attitude of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. “There are over 500 litterateurs in the Police department. The Parishat invites policemen only to provide security during its annual literary conventions. The Parishat has ignored the writers in the department. The Police Literary Forum has conducted four state-level poetic meets,” he said while referring to writer Prof Chandrashekhar Patil’s suggestion on launching a Police Kannada Sangha.

“About 80% of the administration takes place in Kannada. I have directed the subordinate staff to use Kannada in social media platforms,” Sood told reporters after the meeting.
