Rahul takes dig at Modi over advice to babus, Smriti hits back

New Delhi, Apr 23 (IANS): Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for asking civil servants not to use social media for self-promotion or spend too much time online. Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani hit back.

A day after Modi asked civil servants not to be glued to social media on their mobile phones, Gandhi tweeted on his official Twitter account: "Leading by example is clearly overrated." He attached an article in an English daily on Modi's comment.

Irani returned the fire with her tweet: "Look who is talking about being overrated."

Addressing a function on the Civil Services Day here on Friday, Modi said anonymity of the civil service had been a strength but this appears to be getting weaker.

Modi said he had banned mobiles in his meetings to prevent distraction.

He said social media should be used to improve systems and to connect better with the people.
