Dubai, Apr 21: The Karnataka Premier Cricket League (KPCL) Season III finals was played between defending champions Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top and debutants Petrotek Nucaf Kateel at the picturesque Ajman Oval Cricket Grounds under the auspices of Ajman Cricket Council.
KPCL Season III finals saw debutant Petrotek Nucaf Kateel getting the better of defending champions Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top in a closely contested final.
Winning the toss, with Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top, captain Mahesh Shetty was elected to bat first.
Mysore Royals began cautiously having lost Vijay D'Souza at the score of 17 however the ever-dependable captain Mahesh Shetty and composed Shinoy John put on 131 runs for the second wicket. The introduction of Pradeep Hegde who saw the back of Mahesh Shetty for an outstanding innings of 87 runs of 55 balls (10 x 4, 3 x6s) saw a mini collapse of Mysore Royals who were trying to up the Ante.

Chasing a par total, Petrotek Nucaf Kateel began very well through Jayson Denzil (30 of 22 balls) and Prashanth Braggs (26 of 17 balls) however an outstanding catch and a fine fielding effort saw the openers onslaught stopped by Mysore Royals team. Captain Santosh Kotian (40 in 32 balls) and Ubada Barmawar (27 in 23 balls) put in 60 runs partnership for the third wicket to get the team within the striking distance of the target. Mysore Royals through their tight bowling and fielding effort took 4 more wickets however could not stop the target from being achieved in 18.3 overs and 4 wickets, giving debutants Petrotek Nucaf Kateel their maiden victory in KPCL Season 3.
The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Thomson D’Silva, chairman of KPCL, Nasir CTK, director of Nucaf and various other well-wishers. Thomson D’Silva welcomed the gathering and thanked all the sponsors and well-wishers for their support in the successful completion of KPCL Season 3. Organizing committee member Masood Mohammad briefed the audience about Thomson D’Silva who was presented a memento by Nasir CTK in appreciation and recognition of his visionary guidance and exceptional leadership in making KPCL a success.
Captain Mahesh Shetty of Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top along with his team members received the runners up trophy and cash prize from Nasir CTK.
Captain Santosh Kotian of Petrotek Nucaf Kateel along with his team members received the winner’s trophy and cash prizes from the chairman Thomson D’Silva. League Man of the Matches along with individual prizes were awarded by Ashik Rao, Michael Braggs, Faisal and Abdul Sattar.
Salman Ahmed of Ajman Oval was also present during the award ceremony.
