28-year-old Kasargod youth murdered by friend at Mallapuram

Kasargod, Apr 23: A native of Kasargod was found brutally murdered in Manjeri, Mallapuram on the night of Saturday April 22.

The deceased has been identified as Hassainar Asif (28) from Kakkebettu, Nettanige here.

Asif was murdered by his friend Nawaz (21), a resident of Kumble Mogral, said the police.

It is learnt that Asif along with four others was engaged in catering work at Karaparamb near Manjeri. While Asif had been working as a caterer for a year, Nawaz had joined him just recently.

Sources said that a fight erupted between Asif and Nawaz, and again the same night, during which Nawaz allegedly slit Asif's throat.

On hearing screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and saw Asif lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to a private hospital in Manjeri, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

After committing the crime, Nawaz left the crime scene in a scooter and arrived in Kasargod, where he surrendered before the police. The police have taken him into custody and further investigatons are on.

Kasargod police later left for Manjeri for investigation.

Asif's mortal remains will be brought to his hometown after post-mortem, police said.
