Mangaluru, May 24: A preliminary meeting of Biruver Kudla women's wing was held recently.

Prof Vinitha Rai of Roshni Nilaya who spoke on the occasion said that women in order to mould themselves for independent lives, should strengthen themselves in self confidence. “They should get themselves well educated. Progress is possible when they strengthen their families with patience and love, achieve faith from their families and participate actively in society,” she said.

“Helping the weak is commendable. It is regrettable that harassment towards women from childhood to adulthood exists in between oppression by male dominated society, financial constraints, foreign culture, clothing etc. Organisations such as Friends Ballalbagh Biruver Kudla are necessary to get rid of them. It is praiseworthy that the organisation is standing as the backbone for the weak. May the women's wing grow,” she added.

BJP south unit president Vedavyasa Kamath speaking on the occasion, said that the contribution of Gulaab Gang in Uttar Pradesh for the empowerment of women has drawn the attention of the country. “Such an organisation should be established her too,” he said.

Biruver Kudla Kodikal unit handed over cash in aid to a beneficiary family.

Earlier, Vidya Rajesh welcomed the gathering and Pramoda Bolar proposed the vote of thanks. Rekhalatha compered the programme.

Roshni Nilaya assistant Professor Anuradha Shetty and Sadanand Poojary were present.
