Rahul condemns butchering of calf in Kerala by Youth Cong members

New Delhi, May 29 (DHNS): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today condemned the butchering of a calf in public allegedly by some Youth Congress members in Kerala to protest against the government's move to ban sale of cows for slaughter.

Terming the incident as "thoughtless and barbaric", he said that it was "unacceptable" to him and his party.

"What happened in Kerala yesterday is thoughtless, barbaric and completely unacceptable to me and the Congress Party. I strongly condemn the incident," he tweeted.

An 18-month-old calf was butchered in an open vehicle allegdly by Youth Congress workers who raised slogans against the Centre's decision to ban sale of cattle for slaughter. The meat was then distributed free to onlookers.

Keraka Police today booked some Youth Congress activists after the incident drew flak from various quarters.

    There is no doubt that BJP is playing provocative cow politics. Opposition in the garb to oppose everything BJP does is behaving like headless chicken. Despite all the clarification from Rahul Gandhi, congress cannot wash away with the stupid thing they did. If they want to oppose government policy there are better ways to do so. Congress does not want to take a public position of supporting cow slaughter but at the same time have to oppose BJP's cow slaughter initiatives. That is what I call duplicity. Unless, they find a strong leader who can set narrative on development, overcoming poverty and other nationally important issues, opposition will always fall for unworthy issues and lose badly in the future elections. A lot of people want alternative to BJP, but there is absolutely no clarity of thought in opposition. Only reason Congress is holding on in Karnataka is because Siddu is playing the development/jobs tune and not other silly matters .

    Congress Leaders and supporters forgot that Cow and Calf (Dana Karu) were Indira Congress symbol once upon a time...Now these stupid people butchered cow on the street in spite of having good knowledge that Hindus worship Cow..They hurt the sentiments of Hindus..Shameless and dangerous people.. Yes..now it is not Indira Congress..Agree.. Soul of Indiraji will not forgive you..     For Hindus cow is like mother/God.
    But they are forgetting that all their Gods or atleast most of them are in Human form so they should consider human beings as sacred as cows.. but no.. kill 10 men for butchering one cow.
    Humans are the greatest creation of Gods.

    Politics lurks on such situation and use them as advantage for vote banks.
