Doha: Indian Cultural Centre commemorates World Environment Day

Doha, Jun 7: In commemoration of World Environment Day, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) conducted programmes at its premises.

The centre had called for an Environment Day slogan competition, where students and adults were invited to participate. A function was conducted at the premises to mark the occasion.

Rajesh Kamble, Counselor at Indian Embassy and coordinating officer of ICC attended the event. Milan Arun, president of ICC, ICC vice president A P Manikantan, ICC general secretary Juttas Paul and ICC head of counselor service K S Prasad, representatives of affiliated organizations and schools were also present. Saplings were planted at the premises during the programme, attended by community leaders and students representatives.

World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5 and Indian Cultural Centre has been conducting different events every year to mark the occasion.

Indian Cultural Centre is the official body of Indian expatriate community functioning under the aegis of Embassy of India for the purpose of advancement of social, cultural and education activities of the Indian community in Qatar. ICC is also the platform which serves the interests of almost 650,000 Indians residing in Qatar.

The proclaimed objective of ICC includes promoting the rich Indian culture among Qatari nationals and expatriates of all other nationalities living in Qatar. Further, ICC is committed to function as a body of Indian Embassy to strengthen the deep-rooted Indo-Qatar friendship and cultural relationship. There are more than 100 different Indian organizations functioning under ICC in various fields.
