Ballari, Jun 22: In a tragic incident, a couple living near the railway station in the outskirts of the city fed poison to their three-year-old daughter before consuming poison and committing suicide. The incident happened on Wednesday June 21.

Mrityunjaya (47), a businessman living at Talkies Road here, his wife, Madhumathi (38), and younger daughter, Bindu (3), lost their lives in this incident. The bodies were found in the agricultural field belonging to the family adjacent to the railway station in the city ourskirts.

Mrityunjaya used to deal in pulses and was also engaged in buying land and selling the same after converting it into sites. He had told his mother on Wednesday that his family was leaving for their native place for some work. A death note which said that they had decided to end lives due to frustration in life, and also that no one else was responsible for their deaths, was found at the spot. Liquor and insecticide bottles were found lying in the field.

The incident did not become public knowledge from morning to afternoon as the field is located some distance away from the main road. Those who were plowing a nearby field with a tractor accidentally saw the bodies and alerted the police.

The other two children of the couple, Sphoorti (7) and Jeevan (6) had attended school as usual and were unaware about the plan of their parents. Family members rushed to the spot after the accident came to light in the afternoon.
