Udupi: Man drowns in pit three days after father's death

Udupi, Jun 22: A man drowned in a pit having standing water at Heroor Kadambail near Bantakal in the taluk on the evening of Tuesday June 20.

The deceased was Devendra C Navelkar (59). At around 7 pm on Tuesday, Devendra was taking bath in the said pit located near his home, when he accidentally slipped and drowned. On the basis of complaint filed by his younger brother, Surendra C Navelkar, a case of unnatural death was registered in Shirva police station.

It is gathered that the father of Devendra had died three days back and being the eldest son, Devendra was expected to perform post-funeral rites of his father.
