Mangaluru, June 23: MLC Ivan D'souza condemned the recent incidents of violence and appealed people in Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday, June 22.

Addressing mediapersons he said, "Communal violence in a district like Dakshina Kannada is a matter of shame to the entire state. District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai who has complete information of what is happening in the district directed  SP Bhushan G Bhorase to take action.  Some people are terming the minister's action as unlawful. They are also threatening to set fire to the entire district. Hatred is being spread by leaders due to these types of statements."

"Religious leaders should only be devoted to the spiritual aspect and not interfere in politics and administration. It was made clear in the very beginning that instigating people through hate speeches is an offence. Strict action should be taken towards people who deliver inflammatory speeches. Everyone should unite and fight against these immoral acts," he added.

Ivan D'Souza also said that culprits involved in the murder of Ashraf Kalayi will be nabbed at the earliest and dealt under law.

Ivan lauds CM's decision to waive loans of farmers

"This is a great decision by chief minister Siddaramaiah. The government waived off loans of farmers up to Rs 8,165 crore taken from co-operative societies. I am happy to say that our party has been able to waive off the farmers loans just like Punjab and Maharashtra. Our chief minister has been successful in meeting the needs of the farmers," said Ivan D'Souza.

Criticizing the claims of the opposition party he said, “MP Nalin Kumar Kateel claims that the loans were waived was due to the opposition's pressure. If you are really considerate towards the misery of farmers, then prove it by waiving off loans through the central government. If the state government waives off the loans, its just 20 per cent of the farmers of the country belonging to Karnataka state who will be benefited. If the central government does the same, all the farmers of the country will be benefited."

"Congress has waived off the highest loans. Jagadish Shettar in the year 2013 promised to waive off loans up to Rs 2,560 crore, but only Rs 940 crore was sanctioned. Rs 1,600 crore was waived off under H D Kumaraswamy. Congress has waived off Rs 8,165 crore. It was not done under any political agenda. We will continue to fight for the benefit of farmers," he concluded.

If farmers loans are waved, kindly ensure they haven't used this money towards investment on high end segment cars or land or apartments. Most likely its been used for this purpose because agriculture is booming and just waving these loans has to be looked into properly. Verify first before waving off loans. I bet lots of them are happy. Now they can still roam with their high end segment cars without botheration.
