Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 24: The story of Palani, a rowdy sheeter in K G Halli police station here, goes on to prove that crime never pays. Palani was hacked to death in broad daylight within two days of his release from prison.

Palani was a resident of Bagalur Layout here. On Friday June 23 morning, at about 7.15 am, he came out of his home, visited a nearby hotel and was having tea when a gang of four to five persons suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons. The gang fled in motor bikes after murdering Palani. The locals, who were overtaken by fear at the sudden mayhem, were yet to recover from shock when the killers completed their task and made good their escape.

Police personnel said that Palani, who was handed imprisonment in a crime committed earlier, had been released just two days back from prison. As he was apprehensive about such an attack on him, Palani had fitted two CCTV cameras covering his house, but when the attack happened, there was no power supply in the area and no battery backup was provided. Hence, No CCTV footage was available.

Palani was facing several cases of murder, murder attempt, robbery etc that were filed in various police stations in the city including KG Halli, Banaswadi, Indiranagar and Mahadevapura.

In the past, Palani, the police said, had tried to eliminate another rowdy sheeter from Viveknagar police station named Palani, in the road because of his perception that there is no place for two people with similar names in the field of crime. The other Palani, who suffered injuries in this attack, was being treated in Hosmat hospital with police in the guard, when Palani rushed into the hospital and escaped after murdering Palani.

There is suspicion of involvement of some local gangs or gang opposed to Palani in real estate issue having been behind this murder. Three special teams have been formed to hunt the culprits, senior police officers stated. A case of murder stands registered in this connection at K G Halli police station.

Stories such as these are very welcome. It indicates the snake ending up eating its own tail. What the rowdies chose to do, ate them up. IS IT WORTH IT?

I also have a bone to pick with Indians movies, especially Sandalwood movies and Bollywood movies which unnecessarily glorify he bad elements in the society and tries to portray them in demi-god status. Raees, "OM", "Jogi", "Jogayya" and most of Prem movies.

These rowdies are of a different breed. They are not scared of jail and even death. They know that one day they will face the same fate but still continue to do such crime.
