Mangaluru Jun 27: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai defended his stand against the recent controversial remarks against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and said he was doing it to ensure that law and order and communal harmony prevailed in the district.

Rai was addressing media person here on Tuesday June 27.

“Being district in-charge minister, I had the responsibility to maintain law and order. Communal harmony should be maintained here. People should not listen to the rumours being spread and should know the truth behind this. I had called then superintendent of police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase to the Inspection Bungalow to discuss about clashes at Kalladka and there is nothing wrong in it. Only one part of video was circulated in social media and several organisations took this as a weapon to protest. But no one is aware about the reality," he added.

"I always stressed upon maintaining peace and harmony in the district. District has witnessed several cases of provocative speeches which have prompted communal clashes. I have never uttered a single provocative word and I have never hurt the sentiments of any religion," Rai said.

“The recent development in the district is not good with the occurrence of Kalladka communal clash and Ashraf murder at Benjanapadavu.  The main conspirator behind Ashraf murder shared dias with Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in a recent press conference called against me with regard to Kalladka clash,” Rai informed.

“Police have successfully nabbed the culprits behind the murder of Ashraf at Benjanapadavu. Only through this peace and harmony can be maintained. I had discussed the murder issue with chief minister, DGP, IG –Intelligence, concerned officials to make sure that conspirators behind the clashes were arrested,” he said.

“I have always taken the people of all religions into confidence. Bantwal constituency is ahead in terms of development. But some Sangh Parivar people are trying to disturb the peace in the society and create hatred among people.  There are some persons who are known for provocative speeches and they think that it is an easy way to become leaders.” Rai concluded.

    If you have guts,
knowing who is the communal originator,
why you still did not arrest the culprit.
By only talking and talking you become only a respect less district in-charge parrot.

Does he expect us to believe this??? Kalldka Bhat openly challenged him and the Cong to arrest him when he made the first of 2 fiery speeches in 2015. No one had the guts. Bhat mocked about this in his 2nd speech. Not even one statement from Rai and Cong. Now Rai here is trying to play the political card in the back drop of the Kalladka clashes. His statements are 'one sided,' any fool can conclude who he is trying to appease.

In ashraf case police dept & govt has done the good job & arrested all the accused. but at the same time why the police dept & govt failed to arrest all the accused of Moodabidri Prashanth Poojary's murder case. who behind them? it is very clear that due to vote bank politics communal clashes are increased in D.K.

Mr. Rai, it is shame on you & your sleeping government to talk about one sided control of Law & Order.

What you mean by Law & Order Sir?

Day by day Crime is increasing in Karnataka & particularly in your region, and Traffic accidents no control or any steps taken to minimise the Accidents?

Sir, if you are really sincere & Honest call a public expert meeting & discuss about increasing Traffic accidents in Karavali Twin districts & increasing crime . They will guide you.

Dear, your honest concern about traffic is understandable. But have you realised the real reasons behind accident? Government has implemented so many rules and regulations to follow while driving to ensure smooth & safe drive. Its we who dont want to follow them and result is accident . If everyone on the road follow traffic rules there will be very very minimal accidents. No point in blaming government officials.

Don't include me by saying WE??

I am working for the same project to minimise the Traffic accident with the support of Traffic Dept , DC & Nagarasabha by providing practical solutions.

You comment blindly sitting at home or office with free Internet.

There are many ways to minimise the Traffic accidents, including strict implication of Rules by the Authorities.
I think I am wasting time by educating people like you. First change your mind set & improve your GK

People who witnessed the better Traffic system through out world are there in India too.
And also some people have better suggestions.
