Mangaluru: Two from Tumakuru washed away in sea at Ullal - One dead, another missing

Mangaluru, Jun 28: One person drowned and another went missing in the sea at Mogaveerapatna here on Wednesday June 28.

Ayaz alias Chotu (20), son of Jaleel, and Shahrukh (19), son of Siddique, residents of Sira in Tumakuru, got washed away in the sea.

A group of 10 persons, namely Ayaz, Habeeb, Sadiq, Farwan, Sharukh, Jamal, Arif, Wasim, Salman and one more, had come to Ullal on Tuesday June 27 to visit the Dargah. On Wednesday morning, they went to Mogaveerapatna beach.

Five of the group - Habeeb, Sadiq, Waseem, Shahrukh and Ayaz, got into the waters to play. They were pulled in by the strong waves and got washed away. The locals rescued Habeeb, Sadiq and Waseem, while Ayaz and Sharukh could not be saved.

One of the bodies has been retrieved and search is on for the missing youth.

It is said that the local swimmers had warned the group about the rough sea but they the visitors did not heed to their advice.

Shahrukh ran a meat shop near Tumakuru while Ayaz was a mason.

Ullal police have registered a case.

    Some people are scarcely interested in taking care of themselves while venturing out into the sea. Police should make sure that the death certificate notes that it was a suicide. Also, of late, there have been too many such incidents. I suggest a separate category for 'drowning/washing away' news.

    why these boys are coming to dargha as well as sea shore for suicide I can't understand every time drown means some one from malanad or west Karnataka people only, because they does't know about sea rough or water waves, they might think enjoy with water or some selfie etcc,,,,
    if they want to kill them self let them die there only if their intention dargha or temple or any visit there and go back why coming to swim or play with sea water

    Whoever can swim in the sea in any weather without going missing can only become an expert swimmer. I think only navy commandoes has that capabilities..
