Mysuru: Selfie with sunflowers? Farmer finds innovative way to make quick bucks

Daijiworld Media Network- Mysuru (RJP)

Mysuru, Jun 28: A farmer has put a notice outside his farm to pay Rs 20 per person for selfie photos taken inside his farm.

Begur, near Gundlupet, located on highway 766 is famous for sunflower farms. Many small farmers here grow the crop for their daily bread. But this year the crops have let them down because of deficiency in rains. The farmers, who were happy after seeing good early rains, expected good profits this year. But after the rains slowed down, they are not happy anymore.

The highway is used by many tourists on the way to Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Mysuru. Many tourists stop at these farms, enjoy the beauty of sunflowers and take their selfie photos.

One farmer here thought that he should not lose hope while he is under financial problem, but should charge the tourists who happen to take selfie photos at his farm. Accordingly he put a notice board asking them to pay Rs 20 per person.

Luckily he has been receiving many tourists who intend to pay. They do not complain that this farmer is charging them. Whoever complains, will not come to the farm anyway.

Many farmers in the village or on the highway may follow this farmer. Though the money received from tourists will not bail out the farmers from their financial difficulties completely, it may help them to buy few essentials.

Tourists, who spend in thousands for their mobile phones and travel, will not lose much by helping these farmers by the way of paying charges for photos

Why Not? 20 Rs is very nominal.
When you visit any botanical garden, be it Ooty or even Lalbagh flower show in Bangalore the charges are not less than 50Rs per head and you pay additional nonsensical charge for camera which I still don't understand why..

This is the same with the rain gods, they are very angry due to anti social activities going on in our country by our politicians, bureaucrats, judiciary. and our buisnesspeople Someone should click selfies with persons running our Met/weather department who gave 95+ above rains. A statement from our MET department makes our Stock Market to make highs.

I appreciate this farmers positive idea . We all love to take photos in front of beautiful flower gardens and beautiful buildings .There is lot off effort to grow and build these beautiful places . Specially these farmers are really hard working to grow these daily needs . Now many people left this agricultural business due to lot of hard work, not sufficient rains on time. and the labor cost and no availability of workers . I am really worried if all people stopped to grow .Rice ,Wheat and vegetables , then what will be the other sources for our daily food ? In India still there is no much scope for the agriculture .
