Trader killing triggers violence in Bihar


Patna, June 28 (IANS): The killing of a furniture trader by criminals led to violent protests by villagers in Bihar's Siwan district on Wednesday, police said.

Rashid Sarkar, 26, was shot dead on Tuesday night when he was sleeping on the roof of his house in Mahpur village.

Angry over the killing, hundreds of villagers blocked the Siwan-Andara-Hussainganj road and set ablaze two vehicles and damaged several others. The house of the alleged accused was also torched, a police officer said.
