Bengaluru, Jun 29: Relating to steps taken against journalists, Ravi Belagere and Anil Raj, based on the report of the privileges committee of the state assembly, home department submitted a report to the secretary of the state assembly about steps taken to implement the decision taken by the assembly, on Wednesday June 28.

Additional chief secretary in the department of home, Subhashchandra, state director general of police, Rupak Kumar Dutta, and city police commissioner, Praveen Sood, who met assembly secretary, S Murthy, personally at the behest of the latter, handed over a report. They also held a meeting the assembly speaker and discussed several issues connected with the above.

During the discussions a consensus emerged that the assembly has already accepted the report of the privileges committee and that based on the report, the speaker has given his ruling. As per chapter 212 of Indian Constitution, judiciary cannot interfere with the decisions of the legislature. Therefore, if the decision has to be reviewed, an ammendment resolution should be moved in the house and its approval should be obtained for the same, said assembly secretary, S Murthy.
