Mangaluru: Makers of Konkani hit ‘Sophiya’ donate part of collections to humanity trust

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Konkani film ‘Sophiya’ which ran for more than 50 days here, gave a fresh lease of life to the Konkani film industry.

The film has earned good revenue. It has been screened abroad and received a very good response. The collections from Israel screening on July 8 were handed over to a humanity trust in Udupi. The cast and crew of the film donated Rs 50,000 to the trust recently.

‘Sophiya’ might be released again in Mangaluru due to public demand. The makers are yet to decide the date. The film was screened in Bengaluru, Goa, Mumbai, Middle East and UK to very good response.

The film has a lively story which was loved by fans all over. There was comedy too and a good message to the society.

'Sophiya' produced by Janet Productions is directed by ‘Noshibacho Khell' fame Harry Fernandes and stars multi-lingual actress Esther Noronha, Elton Mascarenhas and Sheton Crasta.
