Bengaluru, Aug 10: Former minister and 'rebel star' Ambareesh, criticised the state water resources minister M B Patil for being indifferent to plight of farmers in Mandya.

The farmers continue to face problems due to delay in the release of water for irrigation, from reservoirs in Cauvery, he said.

Ambareesh, at a legislators meeting about low water level in reservoirs, slammed the minister for being too involved in the Lingayat cause. He accused him of sparing little concern for the water problems in the rest of the state.

Ambreesh brought to the fore the agitation by farmers in the constituency. Farmers have taken to arms and even symbolically performed the last rites for the politicians of the constituency, he said.
