Bantwal: Woman killed, six injured in auto-bike collision at Melkar

Bantwal, Aug 10: A woman was killed and six others were injured in a collision between a rickshaw and bike at Marnabail, Melkar on Thursday evening, August 10. 

The deceased has been identified as Rukhya (32) a rickshaw passenger from Sajipa. Abdul Hakeem, Padmavathi, Rizwan and Samsheer who were also in the auto and bike riders Farish and pillion rider Sunil were injured in the accident.

Farangipete resident Farish with his friend Sunil was riding towards Melcar in the bike when the auto driver, driven on the opposite direction all of a sudden hit the bike. Riksha toppled in the incident. As Rukhya was thrown out on the road and sustained serious injuries, she died.

The auto driver fled soon after the accident. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Bantwal and Mangaluru. 

Bantwal traffic police rushed to the spot, conducted investigation and seized the auto.
