Puttur: Awareness programme on enrollment of names in voter list at St Philomena College held

Puttur, Aug 11: The Election Cell of St Philomena College in association with the taluk Office organized an awareness programme on ‘Enrollment of names in Voter List’ on August 10 at the college auditorium.

Deputy tahsildar, Puttur taluk Shridhar K was chief guest of the programme. In his address he said, "The election commission of India has stated that every Indian citizen, on completion of 18 years is eligible to enroll their names in the electoral roll."

The resource person Nagesh, FDA, Election Cell, Puttur taluk office in his presentation said, "The Republic of India is the largest democracy in the world. India is one of the second most populous and seventh largest countries in terms of geographical area in the world. Election is the major event in the democratic system."

The president of the programme Dr Antony Praksh Monteiro, campus director of the college said, "Leaders do not do different things. They do things differently. Today most of the people are worried about their privileges and they forget their duties. Everyone must learn civic responsibilities and must become a good human being."

Janani and team presented the prayer song. The BLO and library staff John Lobo welcomed the gathering. Geetha Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. The convenor of the Election Cell Prof Dinakara Rao compered the programme.
