Mangaluru, Aug 16: Sr Olinda Sequeira was born in 1946 to John and Christine Sequeira, Urwa. She joined the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters (UFS) in 1965 and took her religious vows in 1968.

The golden jubilee was celebrated on August 13 with a Eucharistic celebration held at Urwa church. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu was the main celebrant. He concelebrated the Mass with many priests. In unison with Sr Olinda Sequeira's family members, her close associates and good number of Ursuline Franciscan Sisters they thanked the Lord.
In a felicitation programme held at Urwa church hall, Fr Joe Tauro, Sr Juliana Pinto general councillor, Sr Apoline Cordeiro provincial superior Mysuru province, thanked Sr Olinda for her enormous service rendered to the congregation as a novice mistress and to the administration as an assistant mother general and provincial superior for several years. Her family members thanked her for her concern, love and guidance as an eldest sister.

The entire programme was beautifully organised by family members especially her brother Patrick Sequeira and sisters Jacintha Quadras, Lucy D’Souza and Victoria D’Costa.

At the end of the programme, Sr Olinda thanked God almighty, the Sisters of her congregation, family members and all those who supported her in the past 50 years of her consecrated life.
