Parrikar dismisses need for security review after Vegas shooting

Panaji, Oct 4 (IANS): In the aftermath of the Las Vegas mass shooting that claimed 59 lives, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday asserted that the beach state was safe from such incidents and pointed out that the US massacre took place as guns were "easily available" in the world's casino capital.

"In Las Vegas, guns are available very easily," Parrikar said, while dismissing a question from the media about a review of the security apparatus at Goa's numerous casinos.

Goa has five operational offshore casinos parked in the Mandovi river off Panaji and nine onshore casinos located in the numerous five-star resorts across the state.

In one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history, a gunman in a high-rise hotel in Las Vegas opened fire on a huge outdoor concert festival on Sunday night, killing 59 people and injuring 527.
