Mangaluru: Catholic Charismatic Convention organisers hold preparatory meeting

Mangaluru, Oct 13: The preparatory meeting for the forthcoming state level Catholic Charismatic Convention was held on Thursday, October 12, at Bishop’s House here.

Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, convened the special meeting of the Diocesan Pastoral Parishad to plan and prepare for the convention. Presiding over the meeting, he said that the convention was held on the occasion of the Charismatic Renewal golden jubilee in the catholic church.

"This is a state level convention. Bishops of 14 dioceses of Karnataka along with priests and lay people will participate in the convention that will be held from  November 9 to 12, at Rosario Cathedral grounds. There will be a training programme for the leaders coming from various dioceses. May who participate in the convention will be filled with the anointing of the Holy Spirit," he said.


    


















Bishop of Belthangady, Dr Lawrence Mukkuzzy, spoke on the spiritual benefits people receive from the 'Renewal' in the Catholic Church. This time, he said, "people must attend the convention in large number and benefit from the unique opportunity."

Fr Onil D’Souza, convener of the convention laid before the members details of the preparations already done and  those to be done in the days to come. He requested prayer, co-operation of all who were present and people of the diocese to make the convention a success."

Secretary of the Diocesan Pastoral Parishad, M P Noronha, requested members to participate in the convention in large numbers. He urged people from parishes near and afar to make up their minds to attend the convention.

Director of Fr Muller Hospital, Fr Richard Coelho, moderated the meeting. Vicar general of the diocese, Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, director of Charismatic Renewal, Fr Melwyn Noronha, priests, sisters and representatives from all over the diocese were present for the meeting.
