Udupi: MLA Sorake performs ‘Guddali puja’ for road development projects

Udupi, Oct 13: Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake performed ‘Guddali Puja’ for construction of Ambagilu-Manipal-Udyavar-Malpe roads at Alevoor here on Thursday October 12. The road is expected to be built at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

Addressing the gathering Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “After making lots of changes in plan, it has been finalized for execution. The government has sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore for Katpady-Manipur (doubling of road) work, Rs 2 crore for Uchila-Mudarangady and Rs 1.5 crore for Hejamadi-Kodi flavour finish work. This time round, state government has released Rs 24 crore under one time fund for Kaup constituency. The PWD has initiated the works of Kotemattu, Jarkudru, Nailapade and Kokrady, Palimaru bridges.”



“The constituency has got Rs 50 crore under Central Road Fund, out of which Rs 10 crore has been allotted to Karkala and Rs 40 crore for development of national highway.
"A special grant of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned to Kaup constituency to connect water pipelines for SC/ST colony from Varahi water project. My intention is to develop Kaup on the line of Udupi constituency.

“A proposal of adding 80 Badagubettu to the list of industrial area shall be dropped by the government. The forest department has planted acacia trees in the deemed forest area.

“According to the norms, if there are more than 50 trees in a land, it should be considered as deemed forest area. An order will be passed by the forest department regarding this.

“There is lack of space for housing sites in Kaup constituency. If the forest department had any exemptions for deemed forest lands, people would have got land for housing. The process of conversion of reserved forest has been initiated. An appeal has been submitted by the forest department to the central government to make some exemptions in the deemed forest land.

“Next year, Central University will be shifted to Alevoor from Malpe. Works have been undertaken by the engineers regarding this. A science centre will come up by the IT department at Alevoor at a cost of Rs 4 crore. The fund has been sanctioned and the land has been reserved for it. By the end of November, the road work will be complete.

"80 Badagubettu-Alevoor is a more suitable place for establishing a government medical college than a sugar factory at Brahmavar."

Sorake also performed the guddali puja for connecting road from railway bridge at Alevoor village to Asha Nayak house. It is being constructed at a cost of Rs 7.44 lac.

Harish Kini, Congress leader, Upendra Nayak, former zilla panchayat president, D V Hegde, PWD assistant engineer, Shantharam Shetty, Sandhya, member, taluku panchayat, Praveen Shetty, Somanath, engineer, Prabhakar and others were present.
