Bengaluru, Oct 13: Confirming that he has received a complaint from senior IAS officer Rajendra Kumar Kataria regarding the verbal abuse by Bharamsagar Congress MLA K Shivamurthy Naik, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad has promised to meet both and try to resolve the differences.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Friday, the Speaker said he has summoned both the IAS officer and the MLA to appear before him.

Kataria, who is serving as Secretary, Commerce and Industries (MSME and Mines), had on Tuesday accused  Naik of verbally abusing him and physically preventing him from working on a case related to his [MLA] son that is pending with the Department of Mines and Geology.

Koliwad told presspersons that he had received a complaint from Naik and the officer and therefore summoned both the MLA and Kataria.

Kataria has already met State Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia and also Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the issue.

Both have reportedly assured him full support in carrying out day-to-day work.

The Chief Minister has reportedly ticked off the Congress MLA and has warned him not to misbehave with government officers.
