Bantwal: Girl places hand inside chicken coop - dies of snakebite

Bantwal, Oct 20: In an incident which happened at Shambhoor Aggarapade in the taluk on the evening of Thursday October 19, a girl died of snakebite after she placed her hand inside the chicken coop.

The ill-fated girl, Hansika (4), had gone near the chicken coop at her home at around 3.30 pm on Thursday. She placed her hand into the coop and saw that an egg had been broken open. She also told her parents that something hit her head during this time.

The girl's family found injury on her forehead but did not guess that it could have been created by the fangs of venomous snake. They just applied turmeric powder on the injury mark. The girl started to vomit thereafter. She was taken to hospital but the doctors who examined her told them that Hansika had breathed her last, having been bitten by poisonous snake.

Ansika, only daughter of Ratnakar and Dayavathi couple from Shambhoor Aggarapade, used to attend local Anganwadi.

    Tragic death. No one can digest the fact that the girl is no more.

    I partially agree with Satya concerning the negligence of the parents. But can anybody ALWAYS lay the blame on the parents. Can anyone expect parents to be following their children at every step they take? Certainly it is next to impossible. I understand by this write up that Hansika must have been in the compound of their home unless she veered away from the jurisdiction of their quarters which is unclear. Also what would a 4 year old girl know how a snake resembles and even if she did see it, would she have screamed to raise an alarm at the spur of the moment? Many factors involved here. But plain guess will not help. An innocent life has been snuffed out.

    Very sad case.Parents must have not realized it is a snake bite.who will neglect it when realize?small girl too didnt see and parents must have thought it is that she must have got hurt during playing.who expects a snake in chicken coop.?may the God give them strength to bear their pain and may give one more child .Heartfelt sympathy to them.May the soul of small angel rest in Heaven with angels.

    RIP.
    Very sad incident because of the negligence of the parents.
    Always consult with the doctors or go to the hospital when something happens to anyone.People think it is small issue but nobody knows how big problem it will create.Most of the people neglect the kids and the "NOTHING WILL HAPPEN"..."KAI ZAYNA"....'DALAA APUJI"....YENAGALLA"........................attitude should go.

    Very sad incident. May god give strength to the parents of Hansika and may the little soul rest in peace. My heart cries reading this article. Age of 4 yrs is not at all right for the little angel to pass away.
