Mangaluru: Malani’s Coastalwood documentary to be aired on Daijiword 24x7

Mangaluru, Nov 3: A few years ago, Indian Cinema completed its successful 100 years and Mangalorean director Sandeep Malani was the first one to have made an event on this occasion (April 21, 2013) and that too in Mangaluru. A few days later, the Indian Cinema fraternity, one by one did various events all over with musical nights, award ceremonies and events.

Malani then with a few Bollywood fraternities made 100 years of Indian Cinema event in Sydney, Australia under his banner Malani Talkies Entertainment.

Getting back to the above event, Sandeep Malani, who is a proud Mangalorean and love for his native regional language cinema, be it Tulu or Konkani had made a musical documentary on Coastalwood titled ‘Mangalore, Mangalorean and MangalorEnt’ – which meant Manglore Entertainment. The festival also celebrated 80 years of Kannada cinema, 60 years of Konkani cinema and 40 years Tulu cinema.

This musical documentary featured a few Tulu and Konkani film songs, and a photo album of almost entire artists that are born and connected with roots from Coastal region, who have tasted success in films across over Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bhojpuri and Hindi films. Be it Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Sunil Shetty, Deepika Padukone, Rohit Shetty, Upendra, Anant Nag, Kashinath, Anushka Shetty, Guru Kiran, Devdas Kapikad, Sarojini Shetty, Richard Castelino, Sonal Monteiro to many cast, crew and technicians.

The documentary also has a theatre round up of Mangaluru that will go nostalgic with the audience who have watched films on single screens down the years. To wind up the documentary, Malani also showcases the Suvarna Karnataka song from his film SMS 6260, that was shot in Mangaluru and had many newcomers and talented actors from our region namely Dolla Mangalore, Meena Malani, Deepali Khamabdkone and Vinny Fernandes to name a few.
