Qatar: ICC-ONE Communication extravaganza concludes with great success

Qatar, Nov 18: As part of its Social Responsibility And Commitment to the multi-national community to promote communication and leadership skills, ICC-ONE (International Competent Communicators) hosted its much looked forward annual ICC - ONE Communication championships 2017. The contest was open for all residents of Qatar.

The mother-daughter duo of Sara Tariq (Inspirational – Adults) and Aania Shah (Inspirational –Juniors) cemented their claim as champions by retaining their crowns. Nishit Kumar Singhal retained his crown in the Junior Humorous category. 

In the adult’s inspirational speech contest, the champion’s trophy went to Sara Tariq with her speech titled ‘Stifling Embrace’. She exhorted parents to stop pushing their children and instead set them free to pursue their passions. 

The first runner up was Joseph Amande with his speech titled ‘The great vibration of life’. He stressed on the need to share our life stories so that others can be inspired and learn from our experiences. 

The second runner up trophy went to Nisha Shivaram with her speech titled ‘Imperfectly perfect’. Her message was that perfection lays in embracing the imperfections of others. The other finalists were Sunil Kumar Menon, Jann Carlo Rojas and Lesiley Susan Mathews. The contest was chaired by Mohammed Al Hajri.

The adult’s humorous speech contest was the most entertaining part of the evening. The first prize winner Anupama Kasibhatla spoke about her battle with her weight and weighing machines in a speech titled ‘Mission Slim Possible’. 

The second place winner Tessu Thomas Mundapally shared the woes of baby sitting in his speech ‘A Devil’s Gift or a Heavenly Punishment’. The third place winner Nizamuddin S A spoke on ‘I want to be a Humorous Speaker’ and comically presented his ordeal of training under the wrong mentor. The other finalists were Mehdi Ben Maaouia, Prathibha Ramesh, Sheik Kadar and Sarita Jacob. The contest was chaired by Fatima S Oropeza.

In the junior humorous speech contest, the champion was Nishit Kumar Singhal with speech titled ‘Game of Thrones’. He spoke about how parents pester their children with comparisons. The second place went to Shariq Ahmed Vengasseri’s speech ‘Break it or Win it’. He hilariously advised all to change their mindsets and eliminate phobias. Third place went to Aditya Vinod’s speech ‘turning point’ which was on the pressures of being a 10th grader. The other finalists were Waqar Ali Ahsan, Deepa Kale and Sarah Shaher. The contest was chaired by Hany Zamzam.

In the junior’s inspirational speech contest, number one position went to Aania Shah. In her speech titled ‘In your eyes’, she said that perfection, like beauty, lies in the eyes of the beholder and that we have to be perfect only in our eyes. In second position was Leah Susan Mathews with Speech called ‘Stalker or Shadow’. She spoke about how she resented her little sister Lisa tagging along with her everywhere and how she realized the importance of Lisa’s company only when she spent few days away from her. The third position went to Dhivyashri Ramesh who in her speech ‘The Centre’ persuaded the audience to stop being ego-centric. The other contestants were Helmin Jinoz, Saanvi Sudesh, Nishit Kumar Singhal and Aaditya Nair. The contest was chaired by Jessie C Botero.

The chief coordinator was Sunita Saini. The master of ceremonies was Stephen Dyan Andrado and the chief judge was Manzoor Moideen. 

The prizes were distributed by guests Krishnan CK, chief Wholesale Banking Officer - Doha Bank, Haji MP Shafi, owner of MP Traders & Chief Patron of CIGI and Farukh Sardar, general manager Travel Management Platform – MANNAI Trading Co.

The winners received trophies, gifts and cash awards. The audience also got gifts including laptop, microwave ovens and flight tickets in a complimentary lucky draw.

The audience were treated to mouth watering refreshments with tea/coffee/ soft drinks in the prayer break between the juniors and adults contests. The prize distribution culminated with a sumptuous dinner.
