Mangaluru: ‘Come & Sing Carmel Carols’ organized at Infant Jesus Shrine

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Naman Ballok Jesu, Konkani monthly in association with Infant Jesus Shrine, organized ‘Come & Sing Carmel Carols 2017’, their maiden carol singing competition on December 10 at 2.30 pm.

Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, was filled with vibrant and melodious. The event was inaugurated by chief guest and renowned singer Melwyn Peris by hoisting a star. Elias Fernandes, Four Winds Communications, Fr Wilfred, Superior, St Joseph's Monastery and Fr Prakash D’Cunha, director and Fr Jocy, editor of Naman Ballok Jesu were also present.



The Carmelite brothers began the event by singing the first Christmas carol. Fr Wilfred Rodrigues then welcomed the gathering, and wished the participants. Melwyn Peris also wished the participants well for their singing.

The competition was held in five Categories and the winners are:

Religious Category: First Place – Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu; Second Place: Asha Kiran, Jesuits

Under 18 (Konkani): First Place – Immanuel; Second Place: St Michael’s Belloor

Under 18 (English): First Place – Team Rudolph; Second Place: Stars of Dominic

Above 18 (Konkani): First Place – Blue Angels Choir; Second Place: St. Cecilia

Above 18 (English): First Place – Misle toe Ring; Second Place: 11 Reindeers.

The prize winners received a certificate, trophy, cash prize and gift vouchers.

The first prize received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each, and the second prize a cash prize of Rs 2,500 each. Fr Pius James D Souza, Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, Fr Jayaprakash, Flevi Mascharenhas, Vincy Pinto, Angelore and the judges joined hands to distribute the prizes and congratulate the winners.

The judges of the competition were Fr Jayprakash, Edwin Sequeira and Ivy D’Souza. The event was compered by Fr Prakash D Cunha.
