Teen actress molestation case: My husband is innocent, we want justice, says wife

Mumbai, Dec 11 (Agencies): The wife of Vikash Sachdev, the man arrested for allegedly molesting a teen actress onboard a Delhi-Mumbai flight on Saturday night, has claimed that her husband is innocent and that there may have been a misunderstanding.

“My husband is innocent, had no intention to molest. There was a young death in family, which is where he went, hadn't slept for 24 hours. He asked crew to not disturb and wanted to sleep. His foot was on arm rest but not with intention to harass,” Sachdev’s wife told ANI.

“There was no immediate reaction by her. I don't know why she levelled these allegations, maybe there was a misunderstanding. He is a family man and can never do such a thing. We want justice,” she added.

The 39-year-old businessman was arrested on Sunday, after Wasim uploaded on Instagram a couple of videos about the incident.

Sachdev has been booked under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC, and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) since the actor is a minor, Senior Police Inspector, Sahar, Lata Shirsat, said.

Sachdev was produced before a court in Mumbai on Monday. He has been sent to the custody of Mumbai police till Wednesday, December 13.

Narrating the ordeal in an Instagram post, the actress said: "So, I just landed and you know the whole irony of this is that the guy... this is not done at all. This is not the way, this is not a girl should be made to feel because this is terrible. Is this how they are doing to take care of girls? No one will help us if we don't decide to help ourselves. This is the worst thing".

"Managed to get this (shot of the molester's foot). The lights were dimmed so it was even worse. It continued for another 5-10 minutes and then I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck," she said.

The teen celebrity said she tried to click a photo of the man, but couldn't get a clear shot due to dim lights.

After the matter came to light, a woman police officer was sent to the hotel, where the actor is staying, to record her statement, and a case was registered against an unknown person at Sahar Police station.

After the video posted by the actress, the National Commission of Women (NCW), the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW), the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have sought details from Air Vistara over the incident.

The airline apologised for the alleged molestation of the actor and also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.

We are unable to say anything without knowing the proper facts. Only proper investigation will reveal the truth.

But seeing the developments on high profile cases we can note the following:

    1. When this molestation case was raised several people jumped for support - NCW , DCW responded, Vistara sent a high level team to meet Zaira - It is good that all get alerted and jump into action when high profile people are involved.

    2. But we see numerous incidents where women and minor girls exploited on a daily basis on streets and villages - Only incidents in cities gets reported, incidents in rural areas do not get reported, even in case of cities also, case gets registered but no follow up action and culprits do not get punishment.
No NCW or state commission of women are interested in these cases. Very pathetic situation.
    3. Lot of NGO's etc are also interested in high profile cases and not in cases were the rural women is involved.
    4. Only if some political angle can be explored parties get involved and try to score politically. Otherwise no one cares.
    5. Police system and judicial system has its own weakness in delivering justice to the rural women.

He continue to move his foot up, down on her back , chest for 5-10 or 30 minutes, Oh my God what was she doing at that time ? Why she didn't react as soon as he starts , why she allowed him to molest continuously for 30 minutes,

For me this story of this woman doesnt fit beginn and end.Why she didnt resist his molesting, and first wanted to make foto?I would have been either call a flight attender,or personally said to end his action.Second even when they were in business class ,,am sure there were other passengers who observed ?Excuse me were his legs so long to put on her hsoulders?Even in third class, his hands were also so long and hardly have any place to put on front seats passenger?when one lies then tell a believable tale ,but not like this one.when they were sitting side by side can happen a man might try .anyway she should tell truth .not accuse innocent people.

Madam Rita & other readers, I have this small excerpt for you :
    Quote
"He purposely put a foot on the minor. With his right foot he rubbed her back and neck. She screamed at him to sit properly, but it continued," prosecutor Munna Inamdar said before woman Special Judge A D Deo.
"His economy class ticket was upgraded to business class. He didn't know who was sitting in front of him. My client has been falsely implicated, may be for publicity... The actor and her mother never complained to crew or airport authorities. Her Instagram clip shows that his left foot was on the window and doesn't mention anything about his right foot.
    Unquote

From today on wards, airlines will think twice before upgrading economy class passengers because their cheap mentality does not change when they get accommodated in Business Class. Secondly, someone please explain the need to sit in an aircraft with his left foot on the window, irrespective of wherever his right leg may have been. At the same time, if his right leg WAS on her armrest, imagine his poisture being seated in an aircraft.

Why they did not complain to the crew is at their discretion, however, had she not gone on with her instragram post this man would have walked home like 'Sau Choohe khaa-ker Billi chali... and his wife would never have known about this or possible previous molestation instances.

    Its still not sexual harrassement/molestation//rape.
Moreover the words are changing here. Obviously it will.
We dont want our top bureaucrats and actresses to apologise to a common man.
If this was a woman, it wouldnt be considered a rape. Just an annoying customer.
BTW you really hold some cheap mentality or the classist mentality. You are no one to judge a person when it comes to people of economy class getting business class. It only makes you look like that part of Indians with cheap mentality.
Ambanis used to share toilets with 100s of people when they were kids. Now they own that ugly antilia building mocking the so called "street rats".
Not all economy class people are cheap and not all business class people are pure.
Remember, this is the same Indian justice system which failed to give justice to the ones who died on the street by Salman Khan. This is the same Indian Justice system which has allowed the likes of Mallya to escape and this will be the same Justice System which will give undue advantage to a lying kid. So... she was enjoying his foot massage for 2 hrs? She could have shouted or asked the staff to change his seats.

Even I had a horrible Airavat bus travel where a couple was frequently adjusting their recline chair Couldnt shout at them because I was a guy and I had a beard which made me look like a muslim.

Its people like you who are biased about woman and their rights who makes it difficult for men to live in India. Even I support feminism and woman empowerment but that does not necessarily mean I favour a particular gender even when it is on the wrong. Day by dad the man's foot is going places. First it was back, then it was shoulder, now it is chest.

Good point but the prejudised mind wont look for reasons to go deeper.. once they decode that man is culprit, they go all out to defame his entire clan.. thats tbe cheap thinking they carry. They will realise their blunder if a man in their own family gets trapped for mistaken accedents...

My heart goes out to the man.. hope he recovers from truma and regains his credibility due to a drama queen

Maybe its her experience? You cant judge people. Maybe the who wrote the comment had bad experiences in her life.
After all it does become intimidating when a particular gender has more power/more in number than the other. Hence it will be foolish of me to judge Jeniffer. Nevertheless some parts of her argument was offensive and extremely cheap.
If what she say's is true, then tomorrow if Mr Mukesh Ambani steals my wallet and I go to the police, they will beat me up or call me a Schizophrenic.
But Rajesh, one point holds to be true. Why does that 45 year old have to sleep like that on a plane especially when there are people nearby. It would be fine if no one was there but when there are people you have to adjust but certainly this is not a molestation case but of irritating a fellow passenger. Whether it was done intentionally or not is difficult to prove but looking at his situation and the fact that he didnt sleep for 24 hrs, the ball goes in his favour IMO.
Moreover its difficult to believe this person because of her previous track record.
She needs help- from a professional and she should be definitely checked for substance abuse and alcohol. Something is not right about her.
If you look at her Insta Cry you can easily say she is faking tears while reading comments.

I totally agree with you . She should have just objected right at that moment. And when her mother was along with her. I don't think she should have left him.And latter on to create such a big drama is useless....But it was that man's mistake also ....who on earth sleeps like that.....and that too an educated person....But i have seen even educated men misbehaving with ladies sometimes.....so cant say.....

The behaviour of most Indian men is third class when they see a woman. But I thought this was in busses and trains. Didn't realise that it has extended to the skies.

If they are seated behind you, suddenly in the middle of the night you will be shocked to see two hands coming out from either side of your seat trying to grope you. If you get up and look back, you will realise it was your dream because they person behind you is fast asleep.

If they are in front of you, then they recline so much and sleep with their hands on top of their head I.e. literally on your lap. I was adviced to carry a pin with me and pierce into those straying hands because if you make a scene everyone will attack you - so you got to keep quiet. The same applies, when you prick the straying hands they keep quiet because they have no guts to create a scene.

You travel anywhere else in the world and you will not experience such behaviour.

    Madam,

Were you with him on that airplane ? If your answer is no, then please let the law take its course. The commotion started inside the aircraft hence there can certainly be some DNA traces which will prove whether the allegations are valid or not. However, for an executive it not an appropriate manner to sit with his legs on the armrest of the seat in front.

I can understand your concern as a wife but he may have done this many time in the past in several different ways. You could be a docile wife at home waiting for him to come home.

You might be aware of extracting DNA only due to rape. FYI, DNA can be extracted from any body part inside and outside like hair, nails, tiny skin samples. In this case his leg caressing her neck and shoulder must have left some vital token of clues for investigation. More over aircraft is a public place and one cannot feel at home and make himself comfortable and do whatever he wishes no matter what his situation.

Jeniffer, you should realise that the woman could have created a commotion for "Sexually assaulting" her. She waited till instagram to create this drama? Common... she was in business class. Do you really think the staff is short in the business class.
She has ruined a married man'slife and probably cost him his job.
True the gentleman might have ruined her travel experience. If there is a rule in the Indian Law book to punish a person for ruining travel experience, go ahead and use that.
Whereas, this particular case is different. She has charged him under POCSO act and the person concerned here hasnt slept for 24 hrs. There is a big difference between molestation and intentionally disturbing a co-passenger and unintentional disturbing of a co-passenger.
Moreover this disgusting human(Yes she is, just like the rohtak girls) is a feku. This isnt the first time she is acting in real life. Read her contrversies.

Then, do you think she has nothing to lose by making false allegations ? She is a budding actress - she won't get any film if it proves that all she did is a farce. At the same time is the man a rich moghul for her to do the drama ? She does not even know him.

You pity him for he having lost his job and all because you are a man like him. If she had shut her mouth, one more woman would have gone hurt/humiliated but the man might have gone on with his heroics thinking no woman takes the courage to shout about it. You may perceive the reason why I am with her, at-least until its proves who is wrong and vice-versa.

I dont trust that girl one bit. FYI this news has gone international. It will be embarrassing for all those top bureaucrats and actresses if she is proven guilty. Hence he will be declared a pervert/rapist even if he never intended anything sexual. What if this was a woman? Would that be a sexual assault too? This is nothing but gender discrimination and feminazism. Ofcourse since the incident details are not yet out I would keep my opinions limited.
I do agree he does not have the right to put his foot on the arm chair especially if it annoys fellow co-passengers.
Indians are not mindful of others. Heck people who go in groups in staircases dont give way to people who are in hurry in India.
There is a huge difference between bothering others and a sexual assault/molestation/rape. Look up the definition and you will find out that he was not doing anything sexual.
In some news and comments its told that she was raped -_-
Moreover she lost her credibility already especially on the J and K CM comment.
If booking someone just for keeping his foot out means sexual assault then POCSO act should be repealed or women should have a separate aeroplane.
With your mindset, you are actually widening the gender discrimination gap. Not all men are perverts and not all women are sati savitris. (Eg- Rohtak Girls. Its the boy who suffered. His dad didnt let him complete his degree and the media never showed the world his innocence which shows how dangerous and perverted the world has become)
