Bengaluru: Owaisi's party's entry into state worries Congress, plans to woo him

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 13: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) led by its firebrand chief, Asaduddin Owaisi, which had mostly confined itself to Hyderabad and surrounding areas till reently, has planned to field some candidates in the assembly election being held in Karnataka next year. This plan has been giving sleepless nights to Congress leaders as they are afraid that its Muslim vote bank might get eroded and get weaned away from the Congress.

AIMIM almost entirely relies on Muslim vote bank for its survival. To offset its influence, Congress party, it is gathered, plans to enter into an electoral understanding with that party. Chief minister, Siddaramaiah, has given the responsibility of speaking to Owaisi and convincing him, to JD(S) legislator representing Chamarajpet constituency, Zameer Ahmed Khan, who will be joining the Congress shortly.

Asaduddin Owaisi

So far, Owaisi has not made any advances on this deal, nor has he disclosed about the probable number of candidates his party would be fielding in Karnataka. Owaisi said that emissaries deputed by Zameer are trying to meet him. Owaisi, who represents Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, said he is aware that Zameer Ahmed Khan had been critical of him and that he had gone through certain videos of Zameer showing him speaking ill of the former. "Zameer now plans to join Congress and therefore is trying to move closer to me. I have told his people to advise Zameer to firmly make up his mind first," he commented. Owaisi is also is unhappy with the Siddaramaiah government as it had refused permission to him to address a public meeting in the past in Karnataka.

Owaisi says that the number of seats AIMIM would be contesting in Karnataka has not yet been decided, adding that discussions are on between party leaders to decide about the pocketes from which party candidates can be fielded. The party had fielded several candidates mostly in Muslim-dominant areas in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike election in 2015. In Uttar Pradesh local bodies election, it has won 29 out of 78 seats it contested.

Several political analysts believe that it would be to the detriment of the interests of Congress party if AIMIM enters fray in Karnataka.

Josef., No, I disagree with you. it depends from place to place for Congi. In UP , the Congi leader was wearing a skull cap and sporting a beard while campaigning. Its obvious who he was trying to appease. Fast forward to Gujrat, we see the same leader visit temple after temple, clean shaven wearing a Tilak and 'Janivaar' , proclaiming himself to be 'Shiv Bakth' too woo voters. So its obvious how Congi transform themselves for vote. What would he be transforming himself during Ktaka elections?

This is the double standard of Congress. Even Late Rajive Gandhi did the same thing. He was speaking one thing in Hindi Belt and very next weak he campained against Hindi People in Tamil Nadu. But people of India are very shrewd. Now the communication and social media is very strong. The Young citizens born after Globalisation are not interested in these type of politics. So Politicians be careful.

..Karnataka is fertile ground for OWAISI..since Congress started to move away from minorities for the sake of Majority vote, its evident in Gujrat..Congress not even acknowledge their presence there, forget mentioning Godhra/Ishrat issue..the way Rahul daily visited Temple with full of Tilak in his forehead, i think you can see temple run of Congress Ministers/MLAs and CM in Karnataka soon..OWAISI can encash this, he can also raise quota issue & create some riot..i dont think he will enter into any prepoll alliance since he lost golden opportunity in Bihar due to alliance eventually Nitish joined NDA..

AIMIM is like 'BJP of the minority'. Where Congress has a high chance of winning AIMIM should either ally with the Congress or not contest. AIMIM should stick to Telengana and Andhra which is their base. If AIMIM contest in Karnataka it is clear they have a secret pact with the BJP to divide muslim votes indirectly helping the BJP.

Untill few days back they were confident of congress winning in karnataka. Now as CMs seat itself is shaking in his constituency, they are thinking of taking helo form a party based out of Hyderabad.

Owaisi should field candidates in all constituencies in Karnataka.
NIA should keep a track of votes received by each candidate. If in any place, if AIMIM candidates fall above the last in votes, that constituency should be under scanner. NIA should closely watch for separatism, terrorism and anti-nationalism there.

No need to worry about him or woo him. AIMIM has lost the deposit in Bihar & UP assembly election. Also they have lost Nanded civic polls recently. AIMIM nothing but a other version of BJP and trying to keep the muslim votes under their control. It is not going to happen in Karnataka. Maximum he can divide some muslim votes in some places and indirectly can help BJP. Congress should not do any alliance with this party. At present the country facing different issue, it is no more Hindu-muslim issue. The current trend in the country is Fascist saffron brigade v/s rest. Sangh Parivar is not only anti muslim, it opposes everybody who are not agreed with RSS ideology. Now every citizen's responsibility is to defeat the BJP to save the country's social fabric, economy etc.
