Mangaluru: Powerlifter Venizeia Carlo felicitated with grand rally

Mangaluru, Dec 13: St Agnes PU College took out a grand rally to celebrate Venizeia Carlo’s amazing win at the Asian Power Lifting Championship held in Alappuzha, Kerala.

Venizeia and her parents were escorted by the band in a procession to the main gate of St Agnes College, Bendur where many dignitaries felicitated her.

Chief guest of the function MLA J R Lobo spoke in glowing terms about Venizeia and spoke about her dedication, hard work and commitment that had reaped dividends in terms of accolades and recognition. Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Nazeer Mohammed, Venizeia’s coach Satish Kudroli a recipient of Eklavya Award and coach for Karnataka Power Lifting Federation, provincial superior Sr Carmel Rita, Sr Dr Jeswina, principal, St Agnes Autonomous college, Sr Shamita, principal, St Agnes PU College and heads of various St Agnes Group of Institutions, Anita Dehnugar, PTA, vice-president, Dennis D’Silva, Pradeep D’Souza, deputy director, department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, DK, Ronald Fernandes, bureau chief, Deccan Herald and president of Press Club and media personnel were present on the occasion.



Venizeia Carlo thanked her father who inspired her and her coach who helped her to grow in stature in her chosen field.

Shailaja, Kannada Lecturer compered the event. Lovina Aranha and Tressie Menezes were the coordinators of the event.

After the felicitation ceremony, amidst a rousing reception from her peers, Venizeia and her parents standing atop a specially arranged jeep were taken in a procession accompanied by the staff and students of St Agnes PU College. The victory rally traversed upper Bendur, Kadri, and Shivbagh in an event to remember.
