Udupi: ICYM to hold environment sensitization programme on Dec 17

Udupi, Dec 16: To build a plastic free society and to bring awareness about the harms of use of plastic, ICYM Udupi deanery has organised an environment sensitization programme on Sunday, December 17 at Mother of Sorrows Church at 2:30 pm. The programme is aimed at bring awareness among public about the harms of plastic use.

A banner painting competition among the nine churches of deanery will be held. A rally and street play is also organized as part of the programme. "This is the major step taken by ICYM Udupi deanery to keep the surroundings clean," said Dion D'souza, president, ICYM Udupi deanery. ICYM will also distribute 3,000 cotton bags to the public.

Priyanka Mary Francis, district commissioner will be the chief guest for the program. A Srinivas Rao, chief planning commissioner of Udupi zilla panchayat will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Gerald Issac Lobo, bishop of Udupi will preside over the programme.

Fr Lawrence Cutinho, director, ICYM Udupi deanery, Dion D’Souza, president and Shiny Alva, secretary have cordially invited public to attend the meaningful programme.
