Puttur: President of temple donates own land for extension of mosque

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Dec 16: In an exemplary and rare act of communal harmony, Olemundovu Mohan Rai, president of Eliya Sri Vishnumurthy temple has promised to give 12 cents of his own Patta land in order to extend the nearby Darga building.

Mohan, who is also a progressive farmer, owns the land which is adjacent to the historical Olemundovu Darga and mosque. The Mosque committee had requested Mohan to give them some part of his land in order to extend the premises of Darga as there is no space in the present land owned by it to do any development. Mohan had given assurance to the committee that he will look into their request.

On Friday December 15, Mohan Rai went to the Darga and promised that he will give 12 cents of his land to the masjid. Earlier also Mohan used to take part and cooperate in the Uroos programme conducted in the Darga.

"God is one. We have to respect everyone. There should not be disbelief among different religions. We should not have a sadist attitude of finding happiness in someone's death. God has bestowed everything on me. I have given some part of the land that is given to me by the Almighty. We should never fight in the name of religion and caste. There is no benefit to anyone due to these ill-feelings," says Mohan.

K R Hussain, convener, Renjiladi Islamic center, has lauded the sacrifice of Mohan and thanked him for his admirable act.

Dear brother Mohan, my heartfelt good wishes and congratulations for your sacrifice. May Almighty God accept your sacrifice and bless you with success in this world and the life after death. Hope hate mongers who are brain washed by anti national and anti society organisations should learn from Mohan. Well done brother. God bless you and your family.

Mohan Rai has reserved the place for him in heaven by his good deed, no matter which religion he believes in. He is a true Hindu, a good Hindu who follows the principle of Hinduism. "Sarva Dharma Sahinstunathe"

Its a good and noble act from Hindubrother to give land to build a muslim brother. And it has begun discussions pro and against.I find why should we make such thoughts about this issue, instead of appriciating. It was own wish ,noone forced or fought for it.Both were happy and it s settled.Afterall it is for a prayer house.Let us all not start a big discussion of past and religion things and again look for a new matter to hatred.

    Not a good idea..
Instead Mohan Rai should have asked them to go away from his nearby area...
Mohan should have bought their small land and vacated them..

When people of the Jat community in Rajasthan's Kolida village didn't have enough land to construct the temple of a local deity, Surjal Mata, help came forward from their fellow Muslims. They donated around 35,000 square feet land, which belonged to their abandoned graveyard.

35,000 sq. ft. is equal to 80 Cents
When Muslims do the same, you become Blind, deaf and dumb.
