Bidar, Jan 17: Chandrashekhar Pasarge, who owns 'Srushti - Drushti' Sari Centre in the town has now been selling five lac saris at one rupee per piece since January 15 this year. Pasarge, a die hard fan and supporter of former chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy and his party, JD(S), says that he has undertaken this sale with the aim of seeing Kumaraswamy getting elevated to the post of the next chief minister of Karnataka again.

Chandrashekhar offers saris at one and two rupees per sari. If the buyer produces his voters identity card, she can take home the sari free of cost.

Pasarge insists that Karnataka was on the path of progress when Kumaraswamy was at the helm. "I earnestly wish that Kumaraswamy rises to the position of chief minister again. We are selling saris between January 15 and 30 from 10 am to 12 pm. Saris worth Rs 150, 200 and 250 have been priced at one rupee and two rupees a piece. For people who show their electoral identity cards, the saris are given free of cost," he says. Women have been queuing up before his shop everyday to reap benefit of this sale. About the rationality of giving sari free to people having voter ID, Pasarge says that about 45,000 people in the town do not have voter identity cards and his initiative is to make them procure such cards.

Pasarge is planning to dispose off five lac saris in this way during this period. In the past too he had undertaken free sari sale and police security had to be arranged to manage the rush in front of his shop.

He confesses that he is an aspirant for this year's election from Bidar (north) constituency. "I have met senior leaders of the party and their response has been positive," he reveals. He however, adds that he will abide by the decision of the party leaders on this issue.
