Ajman: Telangana minister of health visits Gulf Medical University

Ajman, Feb 3: The minister of Health of Telangana State, Dr C Laxma Reddy visited Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, the leading private medical university in the Middle East region owned and operated by Thumbay Group - January 29. The minister was welcomed at the University by Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder, president, Board of Trustees GMU.

Dr Laxma Reddy was presented with the vision and mission of GMU, and he toured the educational and research facilities in the campus. He viewed the different ongoing projects of the hospitals and medical centers in the campus. He was also briefed on Thumbay Group’s growth as a diversified international conglomerate with businesses across 20 different sectors, and its ongoing global expansion drive.

Dr. Laxma Reddy said that he was impressed with the unique vision and strategies, as well as the facilities of GMU. “I take this opportunity to express my admiration for this wonderful project integrating medical education, healthcare and research. The facilities and the technology used are truly world-class. I wish Thumbay Group all the best in further developing this comprehensive, integrated system,” he said. He was particularly impressed with the laboratories and the advanced research facilities at the Thumbay Institute of Precision Medicine and Translational Research (TIPMTR).

Congratulating Dr Thumbay Moideen for setting up a topnotch medical university and network of academic hospitals; the Thumbay Hospitals, Dr Laxma Reddy urged him to set up more hospitals in Telangana like the existing Thumbay Hospital in Chaderghat, Hyderabad. He offered to extend all possible help on behalf of the state government.

Thanking the Minister for his visit, Dr Thumbay Moideen revealed plans to expand the Thumbay Hospital network globally, including in the leading cities of India. “According to our strategic plans, the Thumbay academic hospital network will have a total of 1000 beds in the UAE, 1500 beds in India and 750 beds elsewhere in the Gulf and Africa by 2022. GMU is soon to launch engineering and management courses, and plans are afoot to open three new university campuses across 3 different countries,” he explained.
