Mumbai, Feb 21: Members of management, principals from primary school to college, vice principals, headmasters, teachers, non teaching staff and students held a protest march on foot from school to Neelam Nagar here against delay in providing land for playground. The protesters gheraod the main entrance of the office of MP Kireeta Somayya shouting slogans demanding a playground for the school.

The school had reportedly written to the union government and the state government to provide land reserved for the playground.

Chief honorary secretary Dr P M Kamath and honorary secretary B H Katty accompanied the peaceful protesters. Dr P M Kamath said that they have not allowed any residences to come up in the land reserved for the playground. “The prime minister has announced the slogan 'Khelo India Khelo'. Though about 6,000 students are studying at the institutions, there is no playground for them. We have asked the government how the students will play. We had requested Lok Sabha member earlier. We had to resort to protests so that the process may hasten. Kireeta Somayya who saw our protests assured us of transferring the land in the name of Vidya Prasaraka Mandala Kannada Medium School and pre university college,” he said.
