Puttur: Annual celebrations held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Mar 8: Annual celebrations of St Philomena College held recently at the college quadrangle. On the first day morning, Prathibha, prize distribution programme was organized. Chief guest Fr Maxim Noronha, parish priest, Infant Jesus Church, Modankap said, “The students must put their efforts and must strive to achieve success.”

Guest of honour Fr Vijay Lobo, principal, St Philomena PU College said, “We are all social beings. Social interactions always lead to happiness in the society.”



Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent presided over the programme. Principal Prof Leo Noronha, president of PTA Lawrence Lobo, president of alumni association Jairaj Bhandary, and campus director Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro graced the occasion.

The members of Performing Arts Association presented the prayer song. The president of Students’ Council Nixon Joseph N A welcomed the gathering. Secretary Mahammad Ashiq presented the annual report and joint secretary Sweedal Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Josvita Lorraine Lobo compered the programme. In the evening, alumni association and PTA jointly organized annual celebrations. Managing partner, Coastal Farms, Mangaluru P S Prakash Shetty and Kannada Rap King, music director, and winner of ‘Big Boss’ Chandan Shetty, participated as chief guests. Campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal Prof Leo Noronha and principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo participated as the guests of honour.

On the second day, college day was celebrated. Jeevan Saldanha, former president, Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, CEO of Spectrum Industries, Mangaluru, participated as the chief guest.

On this special occasion, faculties who have attained superannuation were felicitated. The students who have made remarkable achievements in curricular, co curricular and extracurricular activities were honoured.

Correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the programme.

Associate professor of Commerce Dr Haribert Nazareth welcomed the gathering. The secretary of Staff Association Prof Ganesha Bhat rendered the vote of thanks. Assistant professor Namratha Shenoy compered the programme.fter the formal programme, the students presented a colourful cultural programme.
