Udupi: Women achievers felicitated at Crossland College, Brahmavar

Udupi, Mar 9: On the occasion of the International Women’s day celebrations, the Women’s Forum, Personality Development Cell for women and the NSS unit of Crossland College, Brahmavar felicitated two women achievers. Lali Abraham Mathew, vice-principal of Little Rock Indian School and advocate Yashashwini Ameen B, alumna and civil
court judge and magistrate designate were the achievers felicitated.

Prof Samuel K Samuel, principal in his introductory remarks said, “International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year to felicitate the women achievers as well as to act as a catalyst for change when it comes to gender equality. The recent development of the emergence of ‘Me Too’ movement of sharing openly stories of sexual harassment is in the right direction and women are showing the courage to openly share their harassment stories.”



Lali Abraham Mathew is the back bone of LRIS for the last thirty five years, who prefer to work behind the curtain with a gentle smileand her real achievement is that she is a wonderful wife, loving mother of thousands of children who have passed out of the school and caring daughter for not her parents but for her teachers too. Advocate YashashwiAmeen, who is an alumna of the college is a multi-faceted personality and excelled in different fields like bhataranatyam, yakshagana, karate and public speaking. She continues her relationship with the college even now. Her hard work and determination led to her success, the principal noted.

Lali Abraham Mathew in her speech thanked the Crossland College for honoring her and challenged the students to find out their strength, build on and achieve success through hard work. Advocate Yashashwini Ameen recalled how the College transformed her life and inspired her to achieve her dream. “Even after leaving the College my Crossland Lecturers helped me in preparing for the competitive examinations,” she said and thanked everyone responsible for her success.

Akksa K Scaria compered the programme. Sowjanya Raju Poojary welcomed the gathering and Rebecca Joyline Mathias rendered the vote of thanks. Prof Elizabeth Roy, vice-principal and Stinny K P, lecturer in charge were present on the occasion.
