Mangaluru: FMCN holds state level workshop on Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Mangaluru, Mar 13: The department of Obstertrics and Gynaecological Nursing organised a state level workshop on ‘Press for Progress: Safe Invitro to Healthy Invivo’ recently.

The inaugural ceremony began at 9 am by invoking God’s blessings. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Dr Judith Angelitta Noronha, professor and associate dean; head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing at Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, Sr Jacintha D’Souza, principal, Father Muller College of Nursing, Pramila D’Souza, head of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing department and the organising chairperson and Shobha Xavier, assistant professor and organising secretary were the dignitaries of the programme.



Pramila D’Souza welcomed the audience which was followed by lighting the lamp. Dr Judith Noronha, the chief guest, unfolded the theme of International Women’s Day. Vedavathi, lady health visitor, was honored for her achievements and contribution towards women in society. The inaugural also marked the release of a book ‘From a Mother, To a Mother: A Post Pregnancy Support Guide' authored by Pramila D’Souza, assistant professor at Father Muller College of Nursing, Dr Joylene D’Almeida, assistant professor at Father Muller Medical College and Darryl Aranha, associate professor at Father Muller College of Nursing. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho director Father Muller Charitable Institutions delivered the presidential address. The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks rendered by Shobha Xavier.

The inaugural programme was followed by scientific sessions by eminent personnel in obstetrics. There was a debate on ‘Patient Safety in Obstetrics’. The workshop comprising of four relevant stations was dealt with by skilful obstetricians.
