Kundapur, Mar 15: “Byndoor is an extremely backward class area in Udupi. Permanent solution for drinking water was not found even though five rivers flow nearby. Works are in progress as elections are approaching. Concrete roads look like spread of cow dung,” said member of BJP executive B M Sukumar Shetty.

Speaking in a press conference in Byndoor tourist bungalow, he said that the zilla panchayat members Shanker Poojary, Suresh Batwadi, BJP chief secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty and others have met the MP Shobha Karnadlaje and urged her to press the union government for the over bridge in Byndoor. “I have faith that over bridge will be constructed. The commencement of underpass work is not important. Underpass work had started in Kundapur, but was cancelled later and over bridge construction had started,” he said.

Byndoor block BJP president Sadananda Uppinakudru said that there is scarcity of basic needs in Byndoor. “The hospital is not well equipped. There is drinking water problem in all the villages. The one, who is an MLA for the last twenty years, shows development in banners and cut outs. Contractors who are working on commission basis are doing shoddy work. In some places concrete is laid directly on mud. Conspiracies to register court cases take place if one speaks about Hindutva and national subjects. It is a practice of oppression through agents of MLA. The answers for them will be obtained soon.”

APMC member Manju Devadiga said that Devadiga community is being suppressed in Byndoor. “A no confidence motion is tabled as a member of the Devadiga community, as president of Beejoor gram panchayat is managing the panchayat. Devadiga community will answer the injustice against the community,” he said.

Zilla panchayat member Suresh Batwadi, block chief secretary Deeapk Kumar Shetty, Balachandra Bhat, Beejoor panchayat president Lolakshi Devadiga, Taluk panchayat member Umesh Shetty, Mahila morcha president Priyadarshini, Yuva morcha president Sharat Kumar Shetty, backward class morcha district president Ravi Ganiga, Ananda Kharvi, Ganesh Yadiyala, social worker Subrahmanya Bijoor and Navinchandra Uppunda were present.

“BJP Navashakthi conference will be held in Vandse on March 18. More than 2200 activists will take part in it. March 24 is the last date for announcement of the list of candidates,” said B M Sukumar Shetty.
