Doha: M Pallonji emerge triumphant at Day / Night Cricket Tourney inaugural match

Doha, Apr 23: Chidananda Naik, general manager of M Pallonji inaugurated the M Pallonji Day / Night Cricket Tournament 2018 at West Bay Cricket Complex in the presence of Qatar Veterans Cricket officials, all the players and match officials.

M Pallonji, the sponsor team defeated Wellcon CC by 8 wickets in the inaugural match. M Pallonji Day / Night Cricket Tournament 2018 was played as 15 overs each side.



On winning the toss, M Pallonji captain Neeraj put Wellon CC to bat. Considering the extreme heat, Wellon began cautiously, but lost its first wicket in the first over. Wellon scored seven runs per over and scored 42 runs for the loss of five wickets in the first six overs. M Pallonji bowlers never allowed Wellon batsmen to score freely and took wickets at regular intervals. Wellon finally scored 107 runs in the allotted 15 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Sanjaya, Samantha and Asmadaga were the only batsmen who registered double digit scores. Sanjaya was the top scorer with 33 runs consisting of three sixes and a boundary.

For M Pallonji, Alban took three wickets providing nine runs in his allotted two overs, Rauf took two wickets, Chida and Sandesh took one1 wicket each.

In reply, M Pallonji, lost their opener Sandesh in the second over of the chase. However, the other opener Rajesh blazed away and scored 29 runs in seven balls with three sixes and two fours. Thereafter, the incoming batsman played carefully and upped the scoring rate. Rauf of M Pallonji scored 26 runs in seven balls with four sixes to finish the match. M Pallonji finally won the match in 8.3 overs for the loss of three wickets.

Sanjaya, Fernando and Sanjaya took one wicket each.

For his all-round performance, Rauf of M Pallonji was announced Man of the Match.

  • Serandib B defeated Mitramandal by one wicket.

    Mitramandal scored 117 runs for nine wickets in 15 overs (Jiga scored 35 runs in 16 balls with four sixes, Manu - 26 runs in ten balls with four sixes, Nuwan - three wickets for two runs) and lost to Serandib B.

    Serandib B scored 118 runs for ten wickets in 14.5 overs (Chanaka - 41 runs in 16 balls with five sixes and one four, Jamai took two wickets for four runs, Jiga - two wickets for 12 runs and Parvez two wickets for 13 runs).

    Chanaka of Serandib B was declared Man of the Match. 

  • Mumbai XII defeated Al Fardan by nine wickets

    Al Fardan scored 108 runs for 11 wickets in 14.4 overs (Naveed - 24 runs in 17 balls with two sixes, Shariq - three wickets for eight runs, Monty - two wickets for eight runs) lost to Mumbai XII - 111 runs for two wickets in 9.3 overs (Fahad - 23 runs in eight balls with two sixes and two fours, Nadeem - 22 runs in eight balls with two sixes and two fours).

    Shariq of Mumbai XII was announced Man of the match.

  • CCRC defeated McDonalds by 67 runs

    CCRC scored 182 runs for nine wickets in 15 overs (Mazhar- 33 runs in eight balls with five sixes, Majeed - 28 runs in 15 balls with two sixes and one four, Abbas - 27 runs in 15 balls with three sixes, Ravi - three wickets for 18 runs) beat McDonalds 115 runs for 11 wickets in 14.2 overs (Noha - 32 runs in 20 balls with four sixes and one four, Abbas - two wickets for six runs, Magsi two wickets for eight runs).

    Mazhar of CCRC was Man of the match.

  • ACC defeated Alliance by 56 runs

    ACC scored 185 runs for seven wickets in 15 overs (Nilesh - 58 runs in 23 balls with seven sixes and two fours, Adnan - 43 runs in 14 balls with six sixes, Shakeel - two wickets for nine runs) beat Alliance 127 runs for seven wickets in 15 overs (Waheed - 42 runs in 24 balls with four sixes and two fours).

    Man of the match was Nilesh of ACC.

  • Al Zaman Exchange defeated MIC by 61 runs

    Al Zaman Exchange scored 201 runs for nine wickets in 15 overs (Firdosh - 54 runs in 17 balls with seven sixes and a single four, Sinan - 30 runs in 15 balls with three sixes and two fours, Imran - 28 runs in 15 balls with three sixes and a single four, Ethesham - three wickets for 14 runs) beat MIC - 140 runs for ten wickets in 13.2 overs (Imran - 37 runs in 17 balls with five sixes, Nasser 25 runs in eight balls with three sixes and a single four, Amol - two wickets for six runs).

    Man of the match was Imran of Al Zaman Exchange.

  • Hanan defeated Al Jazeera Media Network by one run

    Hanan scored 122 runs for 11 overs in 12.3 overs (Imran - 26 runs in 13 balls with three sixes and a single four) beat Al Jazeera Media Network's score of 121 runs for 11 wickets in 15 overs (Parvez - 31 runs in 18 balls with three sixes and a single four, Adil - three wickets for 13 runs).

    Man of the match was Imran of Hanan.

  • QVC defeated Ceylon Warriors by seven wickets

    Ceylon Warriors scored 154 runs for ten wickets in 15 overs (Amila - 34 runs in 14 balls with four sixes, Taabish - two wickets for four runs and Jameel - two wickets for ten runs) lost to QVC's score of 160 runs for four wickets in 11.1 overs (Zaheer - 29 runs in six balls with four sixes and a single four, Taabish - 25 runs in nine balls with three sixes and a single four).

    Man of the match was Taabish of QVC.
